Israel-Iran tension affects international flights: 227 flights cancelled
Following the US and Israel's strike on Iran, Iran responded with retaliatory bombardments and closed the Strait of Hormuz and its airspace. With the rising tension, news of flight cancellations from Turkey arrived one after another. A total of 227 flights scheduled to fly to and from the region to Turkey within 2 days have been cancelled.
Following the air strike by US and Israeli forces on Iran, Iran began retaliatory bombardments against Israel and US bases in the region.
As Iran closed its airspace, the operations of Turkish airline companies were also affected by the situation. Flights that were not operated due to security risks and were cancelled were reflected on the screens at Istanbul Airport.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that all flights to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan have been cancelled until March 2, and that flights to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman have been suspended on a daily basis.

It was learned that 121 flights, 60 departures and 61 arrivals, were cancelled on February 28, while 106 flights, 57 departures and 49 arrivals, were cancelled on March 1. It was stated that a total of 227 flights to Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Oman were cancelled within 2 days.
