Israel to deport Greta Thunberg: Destination country announced
Israel has announced that it will deport Greta Thunberg, who was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, to Greece tomorrow following allegations of mistreatment.
According to a report by Israel's i24News channel, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set sail to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Thunberg, who was detained by Israeli security forces, will be deported to Greece tomorrow.
TO BE SENT TO GREECE BY PLANE
The report stated that in addition to Thunberg, 165 activists who joined the Global Sumud Flotilla will also be sent to Greece. Israel has allocated a plane to transport these activists to Greece. Greek citizens will also be among the activists deported from Israel on this flight.
ALLEGATIONS OF MISTREATMENT BY ISRAEL
In recent days, 137 activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla were evacuated from Israel on a Turkish Airlines plane allocated by Turkey. In statements made after arriving in Istanbul, they expressed that Israeli security forces had mistreated them. It was specifically alleged that Greta Thunberg was forced to wrap herself in the Israeli flag and kiss it.
THE DEPARTURE OF THE GLOBAL SUMUD FLOTILLA
The Global Sumud Flotilla set sail on October 1 to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza in an effort to break Israel's blockade of the territory. However, the Israeli military attacked the boats and ships in the flotilla's path and detained hundreds of activists. The Global Sumud Flotilla has gone down in history as the largest flotilla to ever set sail to deliver aid to Gaza.
