Israeli interference with the Sumud Flotilla continues
Israeli interference continues against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to deliver aid to Gaza, has frequently been in the news recently due to interventions by the Israeli military.
It was reported that the flotilla, operating as part of the 2026 Spring Mission, was subjected to an intervention by the Israeli military on the night of April 29 off the coast of Crete, a few nautical miles from Greek territorial waters.
In that incident, it was stated that Israeli soldiers detained 177 activists and subjected them to mistreatment during an operation conducted in international waters, approximately 600 nautical miles from Gaza.
NEW OPERATION CONDUCTED ON MAY 18
It was stated that another intervention against the flotilla took place on May 18.
It was reported that the Israeli military conducted an operation against the flotilla, which was sailing in international waters toward Gaza, and that a large number of activists were unlawfully detained.
According to the information obtained, there were a total of 426 activists from 39 different countries on the flotilla.
A SIMILAR INTERVENTION OCCURRED IN 2025
It was noted that the Israeli military's interventions against the Global Sumud Flotilla had occurred previously.
In August 2025, a similar operation was conducted against a flotilla consisting of more than 40 boats carrying 500 activists from more than 44 countries.
