'Israel's "ground offensive" into the Gaza Strip postponed due to weather conditions'

As the war between Israel and Hamas continues into its 9th day, 3 senior Israeli officials made statements to the New York Times regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In the statement, it was expressed that the "ground offensive" Israel planned to launch into the Gaza Strip was postponed due to adverse weather conditions in the region.

The statement, which noted that weather conditions would pose difficulties for aircraft pilots and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) planned to provide support to ground troops, claimed that the operation was pushed back by a few days.

The statement noted that in addition to ground troops, tanks, combat engineers, and commandos would participate in the operation, and it was alleged that the soldiers on the ground would be provided protection by fighter jets, helicopters, UAVs, and artillery fire from land and sea.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had signaled a "ground offensive" against the blockaded Gaza Strip, using the phrase, "The next stage is coming."

The Israeli army had also announced that preparations for "coordinated" air, sea, and land attacks on the Gaza Strip were nearing completion.

ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on the morning of October 7, dubbed "Al-Aqsa Flood."

While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israel, Palestinian armed groups raided and seized the Beit Hanoun-Erez Border Crossing on the Gaza-Israel border.

The armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from there, and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.

It was reported that 1,300 Israelis were killed and 3,436 Israelis were wounded in the attacks from Gaza. The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 2,329 people, including 724 children and 458 women, had been killed and 9,042 people had been wounded in Israel's attacks on Gaza.

It was stated that 55 Palestinians had been killed and approximately 619 people had been wounded in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the West Bank. Furthermore, 9 journalists in Gaza and 1 in Lebanon had lost their lives in Israel's attacks.
