The Istanbul Bar Association is holding an extraordinary general assembly today following a decision made after a lawsuit was filed at the Istanbul Civil Court of First Instance demanding the removal of İbrahim Kaboğlu and 10 Board of Directors members from their posts and the holding of new elections.

The congress is taking place at the Haliç Congress Center. No group will nominate candidates against the bar administration that took office on October 20.
A banner reading “The Istanbul Bar Association will not be silenced” has been hung at the entrance of the Haliç Congress Center.

Istanbul Bar Association President Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaboğlu said in a post on social media this morning, "Let us declare February 23, 2025, a day of 'rule of law and human rights' at the Haliç Congress Center. Come on, all together; with solidarity and hope."
