Istanbul Bar Association reacts to BirGün detentions: 'We are deeply concerned'
The Istanbul Bar Association has also reacted to the detention of BirGün newspaper executives Uğur Koç, Berkant Gültekin, and Yaşar Gökdemir. In a statement issued by the Bar's management, it was stated, "Journalists must be released immediately."
The Istanbul Bar Association's Press and Communications Commission has reacted to the detention of BirGün's news portal birgun.net's Publication Coordinators Uğur Koç and Berkant Gültekin, as well as birgun.net's Managing Editor Yaşar Gökdemir.
Stating that they received the news of the detentions with deep concern and sadness, the Istanbul Bar Association emphasized that the detained journalists must be released immediately.
In a post shared on the X account of the Istanbul Bar Association's Press and Communications Law Commission, the following statements were included:
"As the Istanbul Bar Association Press and Communications Commission, we stand with members of the press and respectfully announce to the public that we will continue our struggle to protect press freedom."
