Istanbul Governor Davut Gül: All educational institutions, including schools, have been closed in Istanbul
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül made statements. Gül announced that schools in Istanbul will also be closed tomorrow (February 21).
Highlights from Davut Gül's statements are as follows:
"A total of 21 thousand 194 tons of salt and 500 tons of solution have been used in the operations. 1100 of our fellow citizens living on the streets have been placed in hotels and temporary shelters under the coordination of the Governor's Office. The snowfall expected on Sunday is anticipated to be effective on the European Side of Istanbul.
SNOWFALL WILL BE EFFECTIVE ON SUNDAY
Since Tuesday, February 18, 139 traffic accidents involving injuries have occurred in our city. According to the data we have received from the Meteorology Department for the past two days, the precipitation that continued today has been effective in the Bosphorus area and the Anatolian Side. The precipitation, which is expected to be strong and locally heavy on Friday and Saturday, is expected to be effective in the northern and higher parts. It is estimated that the snowfall on Sunday will generally be effective on the European side.
SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED TOMORROW
In order to prevent our students from experiencing any grievances, educational activities have been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 21, 2025, including all public and private schools, public education centers, driving schools, various courses, support courses in public schools, and supplementary courses in private schools.
As of 24:00 tonight, all motorcycles are prohibited from entering traffic until further notice."
