Istanbul Governor Gül's harsh reaction to Leman magazine: We will not remain silent to any baseness
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, regarding the publication of a caricature targeting Prophet Muhammad in a humor magazine, stated, "The rule of law is doing what is necessary against this mentality that tries to provoke society by attacking our sacred values. We will not remain silent to any baseness that reaches out to the faith of our nation."
Governor Gül, in a statement made on his social media account regarding the caricature published in Leman magazine, noted the following:
"Due to the ugly caricature targeting our Prophet, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated a judicial investigation under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), and detention orders have been issued for 4 people. The rule of law is doing what is necessary against this mentality that tries to provoke society by attacking our sacred values. We will not remain silent to any baseness that reaches out to the faith of our nation."
