Istanbul Governor Gül responds to Ekrem İmamoğlu's 'he doesn't attend openings' claim
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül has responded to Ekrem İmamoğlu, who claimed that he does not attend Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) events.
Following criticisms made by İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül has explained the reason for his non-attendance at İBB events.
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül explained that the reason he does not attend Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality events is that these events focus more on politics than on issues concerning the city.
Governor Gül responded on his social media account to the remarks made by İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who had stated, "The governor and district governors cannot come to my openings. Why? Because the President gave such an instruction!"
Governor Gül stated, "It was an unfortunate statement. Our President does not have such a trivial agenda. The reason I do not attend Metropolitan Municipality events is that topics concerning general politics are discussed more than local and common duties that concern the city."
