Istanbul Governor Gül: We will build 100 nurseries, 100 kindergartens, and 4-6 age Quran courses in Istanbul

An "Iftar Meeting with Mukhtars" program was organized by the Istanbul Governorship in Bakırköy. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and many invited mukhtars attended the program held at a hotel in Bakırköy.

Following the recitation of the Quran, the guests broke their fast at iftar time. At the end of the program, plaques and certificates of appreciation were presented by Governor Davut Gül to the District Governors of Güngören, Gaziosmanpaşa, and Bahçelievler, as well as to the neighborhood mukhtars of the locations with the highest blood donations, as part of the "The Neighborhood's Power Grows with Kindness" project.

Gül said, "Under the leadership of our President, we are striving to do good work in every neighborhood in Istanbul together with you. In fact, our mukhtars know best what is being done in Istanbul. Because you are the ones who bear the brunt of the work. You are also experiencing the difficult periods. You are the first to see the relief felt by our citizens.

You know what has been done. From now on, God willing, we will implement several projects with you within a year and a half, or at most two years. If there is a need in the neighborhood for these projects I will list, and if there is a suitable plot of land, we will start within this month, and we will finish some of them within the year using steel construction. If some spill over into next year, we will finish them within next year. What will we do? We will build 100 nurseries. We will hand them over to our Ministry of Family and Social Services. Thus, there will be places where children can stay from 6 months old up to 3 or 4 years old. What will it be used for? There is a need for places where our new mothers can leave their children while they enter working life," he said.

Stating that the nurseries will be operated by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Governor Gül said, "It is important to provide services in our Istanbul, but it is more important to provide them in a way that is economically affordable. Our Ministry of Family will operate these places for almost free, at symbolic prices. Secondly, we will build 100 kindergartens. We will start building them immediately in every neighborhood where there is a need.

Thirdly, we will build 4-6 age Quran courses. Our mukhtars actually know the 4-6 age Quran courses best. It is the Diyanet's kindergarten. When you look at these three, it means the following: Our Ministry of Family will operate the nurseries. Our Ministry of National Education will operate the kindergartens. Our Mufti offices will operate the 4-6 age Quran courses. Apart from this, we want to build indoor sports halls to take protective and preventive measures so that our children and youth do not get involved in bad habits. These are only called indoor. They will be sports halls that we will use at the neighborhood scale, serving our fellow citizens 24/7. We plan to build 100 of them.

Additionally, we plan to build 100 artificial turf fields. So, we will build 100 artificial turf fields, 100 indoor sports halls, 100 nurseries, 100 kindergartens, and 100 4-6 age Quran courses. In addition to these, we have homework houses. Their number is currently around 250. We want to increase their number to 500 in the first stage. In fact, when you look at it, each of them is an investment that we will work on and evaluate with you at the neighborhood and school scale. Our request from you is that if there is a need and if there is land, please notify our District Governor. We want to build these as quickly as possible and offer them to the service of our nation. God willing, together with you, during your term, our fellow citizens will say, 'Our neighborhood received the best services in its history during the term of our mukhtar.' We will ask for it. God will grant it, and hopefully, we will all see the results of these together," he said.
