Istanbul to experience its hottest Sunday in 110 years

According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, air temperatures in Istanbul will remain above seasonal norms until Sunday. Adil Tek, a meteorological engineer at the Kandilli Observatory, stated that temperatures will peak on Sunday, breaking a 110-year record. "Temperatures will peak on Sunday, and the effect of desert dust will be felt. However, after Sunday, temperatures will drop rapidly with a cold air wave arriving from the north," Tek said.

While air temperatures in Istanbul have been above seasonal norms in recent days, a warning has been issued that desert dust clouds will also be effective. These dust clouds, arriving from North Africa, will be felt more intensely, particularly in the Marmara and Aegean regions.

Adil Tek stated that the desert dust will be effective for a few days, followed by a significant drop in temperatures. Emphasizing that those with respiratory conditions and the elderly should be cautious, Tek said it would be beneficial for those going outside to wear masks.

TEMPERATURES WILL DROP AND PRECIPITATION WILL ARRIVE

Stating that air temperatures will drop after Sunday, Tek said, "Precipitation will begin soon. Snowfall is also expected next week. Snow will be seen particularly in the Western Black Sea, Central Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia regions."

Expressing that snowfall is also expected in Ankara, Tek said, "It looks like the people of Ankara will get their fill of snow this time. The probability of snowfall is quite high starting from Wednesday."
