It owned Turkey's largest fleet: Ciner Shipping decides to move to Greece

Ciner Shipping, one of Turkey's leading maritime companies, has decided to move its operations to Greece. As part of this decision, the company announced via email to all employees that their employment contracts would be terminated with their legal rights paid. It is alleged that Ciner Shipping's vessels will be operated by a firm established in Greece.

It has been suggested that Ciner Shipping CEO Vasileios Papakalodoukas has resigned from his position to establish a management firm in Athens, and that this firm will operate the vessels in the Ciner fleet. The company was known to have the largest fleet in Turkey in terms of carrying capacity, consisting of 24 ships with a total capacity of approximately 2 million tons. The fleet comprises 20 bulk carriers and 4 Suezmax crude oil tankers.

According to a report by Ekonomim, Ciner Shipping was continuing its operations by collaborating with international companies. Companies chartering the vessels included firms such as Cargill, RWE, Pacific Basin, SwissMarine, and Western Bulk. The company also worked with sub-charterers such as Rio Tinto, Vale, BHP Billiton, Bunge, Arcelor Mittal, Oldendorff, Vitol, KOCH Industries, and Louis Dreyfus. Its tanker vessels, meanwhile, collaborated with major oil companies such as BP, CHEVRON, SHELL, EXXON-Mobil, REPSOL, TOTAL, Vitol, Trafigura, and Stena.

ALSO TRANSFERRED MEDIA GROUPS

The Ciner Group's decision to end its media investments was also on the agenda. The group has decided to transfer all of its shares in Ciner Media Holding to the Can Group. In this context, the management of broadcasting organizations such as Habertürk, Show TV, and Bloomberg HT will be transferred to Kenan Tekdağ.

The following statement was made by the Park Group:

''In line with its goal of global leadership in the mining industry as its primary sector, the Park Group has decided to terminate its media investments. Within the framework of this decision, a contract has been signed for the transfer of all of the Park Group's shares in Ciner Media Holding to the Can Group, which also includes important educational/cultural institutions of our country such as Bilgi University and Doğa Colleges. The transfer will take effect after the approval of the Competition Authority. We respectfully announce this to the public with the belief that this transfer will bring a new breath and strength to the media and our media employees.''

In its own statement, the Can Group said, 'We are pleased to take over the Park Group's media investments. During this process, Kenan Tekdağ will manage the investments.' It was stated that the transfer procedures will be completed after the approval of the Competition Authority.
