Adverse weather conditions began to be felt toward the evening hours. While snow, rain, and storms were observed in various regions, the General Directorate of Meteorology also announced its latest weather forecast. Accordingly, the vast majority of the country will be subject to intermittent precipitation.

ATTENTION ISTANBUL RESIDENTS! PRECIPITATION IS COMING

It is stated that intermittent precipitation is expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, western Central Anatolia, Western Black Sea (except Sinop), Eastern Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia (except Iğdır and Van), and Southeastern Anatolia regions, as well as the surroundings of Karaman, Niğde, Nevşehir, Kayseri, and Sivas, with Istanbul being the primary focus.

BE PREPARED FOR THUNDER

The precipitation, which is expected to be effective as of the evening hours, is forecast to generally fall as rain and downpours, as thundery downpours in parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, and as sleet and snow in the interior parts of the Eastern Black Sea and in areas receiving precipitation in Eastern Anatolia.

Furthermore, it was reported that the precipitation will be strong in the western parts of Marmara, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the surroundings of Bursa, Yalova, İzmir, Uşak, Manisa, Denizli, Malatya, Erzincan, Tunceli, Gaziantep, Kilis, and Adıyaman, and very strong and locally severe in the Western Mediterranean and the surroundings of Aydın and Muğla. It was noted that air temperatures will increase by 2 to 4 degrees in the eastern parts, with no significant change expected elsewhere.

STRONG PRECIPITATION WARNING: As precipitation is expected to be strong in the western parts of Marmara, the Coastal Aegean, the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, and the surroundings of Bursa, Yalova, Uşak, Manisa, Denizli, Malatya, Elazığ, Erzincan, Tunceli, Gaziantep, Kilis, and Adıyaman, and very strong and locally severe in the Western Mediterranean and the surroundings of Aydın and Muğla, caution and precautions must be taken against negative consequences such as disruptions in transportation, flash floods, flooding, and landslides.

STRONG WIND WARNING: As the wind is expected to blow from southerly directions as strong and locally stormy (50-80 km/h) in the western parts of Marmara, the Aegean, the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and the interior parts of the Western and Eastern Black Sea, caution and precautions must be taken against negative consequences such as disruptions in transportation, roof damage, and snow drifting.

ICING AND AVALANCHE WARNING: Caution and precautions must be taken against the danger of avalanches on the steep and sloping hillsides of the interior parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, as well as against icing, frost, and potential disruptions in transportation. 

DOWNPOURS EXPECTED IN MARMARA

The region is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with intermittent rain and downpours across the region. Precipitation is expected to be locally strong in the western parts of the region and the surroundings of Bursa and Yalova. The wind is forecast to blow from southerly directions in the western parts of the region as strong and locally stormy (50-80 km/h).

CENTRAL ANATOLIA

It is expected to be very cloudy, with rain and downpours in the western parts of the region and the surroundings of Karaman, Niğde, Nevşehir, and Kayseri, and sleet and snow in the surroundings of Sivas. Local mist and fog are expected along with icing and frost during the night and morning hours. The wind is forecast to blow from southerly directions as strong and locally stormy (50-70 km/h).

CENTRAL and EASTERN BLACK SEA

It is expected to be very cloudy, with rain and downpours on the Eastern Black Sea coast, and sleet and snow in the interior parts of the Eastern Black Sea. The wind is expected to blow from southerly directions in the interior parts of the Eastern Black Sea as strong and locally stormy (50-70 km/h). There is an avalanche danger in the high altitudes of the interior parts of the Eastern Black Sea.

SOUTHEASTERN ANATOLIA

It is expected to be very cloudy, with rain and downpours across the region. Precipitation is expected to be locally strong in the surroundings of Gaziantep, Kilis, and Adıyaman.
