İYİ Party Chairman Dervişoğlu: We emerged from the local elections with a major trauma

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu stated that they emerged from the 2024 local elections with a major trauma, saying, "We had disgruntled members, and we spoke with them. There were those who felt offended, and those whose expectations were not met. We spoke with all of them. If another political party had experienced what we went through, it would likely have reached the end of its political life."

İYİ Party Chairman Dervişoğlu: We emerged from the local elections with a major trauma

Participating in the "Special Interview" program on Habertürk TV, Dervişoğlu celebrated the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day for all citizens.

Regarding the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, Dervişoğlu said, "In such a critical process, I would not even be bothered by the President taking the first step. I mean, unlike other politicians, I don't say 'I won't go there, I won't go here.' Naturally, I would hold meetings with state officials, including those held in confidence regarding Turkey's most fundamental issue, but I will not participate in meetings held behind closed doors with those connected to the organization in the public eye."

Addressing the resignation processes within his party, Dervişoğlu stated, "We emerged from the 2024 local elections with a major trauma, and therefore it took time to heal the wounds created by that trauma. We had disgruntled members, and we spoke with them. There were those who felt offended, and those whose expectations were not met. We spoke with all of them. If another political party had experienced what we went through, it would likely have reached the end of its political life. That was already the expectation of our political rivals."

Dervişoğlu noted that there were many politicians, commentators, and journalists who once predicted the end of the İYİ Party's political life, adding, "We have overcome those processes; I can say that the traumas we experienced and the games played against us served as a reason for us to bond with each other. Because it is now a common consensus that the İYİ Party is needed in this process that Turkey is going through."

Stating that they are continuing their efforts to turn that difficult period they left behind into a process of political resurgence, Dervişoğlu thanked all party members who have put in the effort along this path.

"I DO NOT INTEND TO BENEFIT FROM MEDIOCRITY"

Regarding public opinion polls, Müsavat Dervişoğlu said, "It is possible to speak of a steady rise for the İYİ Party, but due to my political style and tone, I do not intend to benefit from mediocrity or turn negatives into a strategy. I say it everywhere, and I will say it here too. First of all, we need to be appreciated. I see signs that we are being appreciated by the public, both with our stance, our rhetoric, and our practices."

Expressing his belief that the İYİ Party will make a leap forward when this appreciation turns into preference, Dervişoğlu said, "I am also carefully following the developments that nourish hopes on this path. We are preparing a highly transparent roadmap. It should be known that we have not forgotten anything. We are approaching the issue with sincerity, but I can also state that I have noted the betrayals."

Regarding his visit to Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his post as Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality following his arrest as part of a corruption investigation, Dervişoğlu stated, "If there is an injustice, if there is an illegality, it is also my expectation as a citizen who defends the rule of law that investigations into the person be conducted without victimizing them, and that if a crime has been committed, it be prosecuted."
