İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu speaks on his visit to İmamoğlu: 'It was no surprise to him'

Dervişoğlu made important statements regarding early elections and presidential candidacy debates. Responding to questions from Başak Şengül on tv100, Dervişoğlu said regarding whether he would be a presidential candidate, "I think it is premature to talk about these things today."

Stating that the CHP's candidate determination process is premature, Dervişoğlu said regarding the candidacy debates, "The main opposition party has taken certain steps and implemented practices while there is no election on our agenda today.

The candidate determined by the CHP became İmamoğlu through a vote by its members. They took steps by implementing measures that could lead to Ekrem İmamoğlu's arrest, starting with the cancellation of his diploma, because such a course of action was expected. Now, there are debates about who will be the candidate if İmamoğlu cannot be. This is the CHP's business," he said.

ALLEGATIONS OF A TRUSTEE FOR THE CHP

Regarding the allegations that a trustee would be appointed to the CHP, Müsavat Dervişoğlu said, "When the appointment of a trustee to the CHP came to the agenda, I stated that let alone appointing a trustee, even thinking about it would be madness, but one should look at it as if there is nothing that cannot happen in Turkey. I am still where I was on the first day. Even considering appointing a trustee to the CHP is political madness," he said.

EVALUATED İMAMOĞLU'S LEGAL SITUATION

Regarding the investigations into İmamoğlu and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), Dervişoğlu said, "The issue here is the debate over whether what is being done to Ekrem İmamoğlu is legal or political. If this is a legal investigation, it must be examined whether it is in accordance with procedure.

But there is a diploma cancellation before the investigation was even launched. This cancellation of the diploma and the conduct of the investigation brought about some debates in terms of timing.

No matter which angle you look at this issue from, you encounter the reality that it is an investigation that contains political interference and whose real target is political," he stated.

Regarding his visit to İmamoğlu, Dervişoğlu said, "What was happening was no surprise to him; I found İmamoğlu in high spirits. But I observed a high level of belief in him that justice and the law will prevail despite everything," he said.

"BOYCOTT IS A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT"

"Some things are being discussed with exaggeration. A boycott is a constitutional right. Furthermore, everyone has the right to buy or not buy goods. If a boycott is presented as something done to put the economy in a difficult situation, its reality also becomes a subject of debate. Mr. Özgür Özel thinks he has been wronged and is exhibiting behavior to benefit from the rights provided to him by the constitution. If it were me, I would defend rights on the right path. If I want to defend a right, I would not worry about whether they might usurp another of my rights there. I would not use things like boycotts as a bargaining chip; I would prefer to put up a tougher fight.

DOES THE İYİ PARTY WANT AN EARLY ELECTION?

I want an early election. The President has such authority. But if they are waiting for an early election to emerge from Parliament through an alliance of political parties, I would like to state that as the İYİ Party, we will not respond to this expectation.

WILL HE BE A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE?

I am asked if I will be a candidate. I am the chairman of a political party. We are a political party established for the implementation of my party's program and for overcoming the problems Turkey is facing. However, I think it is premature to talk about these things today."
