İYİ Party Istanbul Mayoral candidate Kavuncu makes a jab at AKP without naming names

In his speech there, Kavuncu stated that they are striving to explain themselves and have visited almost every district of Istanbul, noting that as a party, they have 29 major projects for Istanbul, the most important of which are urban transformation, transportation, social municipalism, and irregular migration.

Expressing that he is aware of the difficulties experienced by the Grand Bazaar tradespeople regarding transportation, Kavuncu said, "The tradespeople are seriously aggrieved because vehicles cannot enter. Business owners cannot even come with their own vehicles. This complaint was conveyed to us before, and I had forwarded the studies prepared on this subject to the Metropolitan Municipality. It is necessary to ensure that tourists can easily walk and tour along this route and leave the Grand Bazaar using various vehicles," he said.

Kavuncu later visited the workplaces in the bazaar, spoke with the tradespeople, and listened to the suggestions and complaints of the citizens.

Making statements to members of the press at the exit of the Grand Bazaar, Kavuncu claimed that there were rumors about them such as "They are not working, they are not in the field," and thanked the journalists who follow them and their work.

Drawing attention to the fact that they are a free and independent entity as the İYİ Party, Kavuncu said, "We have now drawn our own path, we will proceed on our own path, and we will act in this direction."

BUĞRA KAVUNCU TOOK US BACK 20 YEARS

Pointing out that they do not have a goal such as helping one side win an election or causing another side to lose, Kavuncu stated the following:

"Such a mindset is being tried to be established in our country; as if there are only two parties and the competition is between these two parties. All candidates other than these are working for the victory or defeat of any party. I just explained our own projects to the representatives of the Grand Bazaar tradespeople. I explained what we will do and why we will do it better without badmouthing anyone. Therefore, we will continue with this understanding."

Explaining that he watched a television program in 2004 in which candidates for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality participated, Kavuncu said, "I followed the late Mehmet Ali Birand's program; Birand's first question to the candidates was about how they would solve Istanbul's earthquake problem and how the issue of urban transformation would be handled. If an earthquake problem cannot be solved in a country for 20 years, and if this problem is still being talked about, those who have managed this city for the last 25 years have a very serious responsibility."

Emphasizing that the perspective on problems should be changed, Kavuncu said, "We must protect Istanbul from populist policies and politicians who think about their own future rather than the future of the city. The candidate who puts forward this claim for permanent, sustainable solutions will solve Istanbul's problems, and that candidate is me."
