Proposal from IYI Party's Türkkan to Minister Şimşek regarding exit fee hike
A notable criticism and proposal have come from IYI Party MP Lütfü Türkkan regarding the tax package, which includes an increase in the international departure fee, to be submitted to Parliament by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance after the holiday.
It was announced that the Ministry of Treasury and Finance had initiated work to reset the current 150 lira international departure fee to a range between 1000 lira and 1750 lira, and that this would be submitted to Parliament as part of a tax package after the holiday.
Expressing his reaction to the situation in a post on his social media account, IYI Party MP Lütfü Türkkan stated the following:
"If the international departure fee is set at 3000 TL, then my proposal to the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mr. Mehmet Şimşek, is this: a 500 Euro entry fee should also be collected from expatriates entering the country.
This way, our expatriate brothers and sisters, who claim there are no problems in the country, will also contribute and realize what kind of difficulties exist," he said.
