İYİ Party protests in front of TÜVTÜRK with a black wreath: 'It must be nationalized immediately'

Speaking on behalf of the party, District Deputy Chair Taner Saraç reminded that February 14 is "Valentine's Day" and said, "However, Melih Okan Keskin will not be able to be with his loved ones today." The statement noted that the oversight mechanism of TÜVTÜRK, which provides a public service, has "spun out of control," and it was stated that the company should be nationalized immediately.

District Deputy Chair Taner Saraç used the following expressions in his statement:

"This tragic event has shown that the oversight mechanism of TÜVTÜRK, which provides a public service, has spun out of control and has blood on its hands. TÜVTÜRK must be nationalized immediately. You have been etched into memories as the murderous TÜVTÜRK. Our struggle will continue until all 20 attackers who assaulted our late police officer at the Ankara İvedik inspection station and caused his death are immediately arrested for intentional homicide and brought before a judge.

TÜVTÜRK, which collects thousands of liras for vehicle inspections without even tightening a single bolt, insists on charging bank commissions on credit cards despite court rulings, and has had its tax debts wiped out, has descended upon the country like a dark cloud.

In a country where even the police are not safe, how safe is the citizen? Every incident that occurs has become more dire, more painful, more saddening, and more brutal than the one before it. Who will put a stop to this situation, and how will the public's safety be ensured? The events that have taken place are the work of powers that have seized public property and are suffering from power poisoning as a result of the government's misguided privatization policies. Privatization first took our money, now it is taking our lives. The events are caused by the government's misguided policies, the instrumentalization of the judiciary for petty politics, and the use of the police force and the justice system not for the peace of the public, but to protect its own power.

As we remain silent, problems grow even larger; instead of producing solutions, the government's response has been tyranny, changing the agenda, remaining silent, calls for moderation, cooling down events, and trying to make them forgotten. Human life should not be this cheap. I also have a word for the Ministry of Interior: the incident has brought to light that there is a problem within the police force. A supervisor who wants to save himself using expressions toward the late police officer that befit neither humanity nor professional principles and dignity shows how the hierarchical order within the organization has degenerated."

The statement, which referenced the Police Organization Law No. 3201 dated 1937, stated that the law in question should be radically amended to suit modern conditions.
