İYİ Party's move on departure tax

İYİ Party Ankara MP Kürşad Zorlu announced that they have submitted a legislative proposal regarding the abolition of international departure taxes. In a statement on his X social media account, Zorlu stated the following:
"While the information that the international departure tax would be raised to the level of 1500 TL was frequently discussed in the public eye, the Revenue Administration gave a signal of the hike with its statement. This practice, which is essentially in the form of a tax, should be abolished as soon as possible under Law No. 5597 on International Departure Tax.
It is such a tax practice that, as with other taxes, if it cannot be collected, a travel ban is imposed on the citizen. This situation is contrary to both the tax system and the freedom of travel. For these reasons, I find it more beneficial in terms of public interest to abolish the practice entirely rather than increasing exemptions. We have prepared our relevant Legislative Proposal and just submitted it. I hope it will be taken onto the agenda as soon as the TBMM opens."
