İYİ Party's Poyraz: A Turkey that uses its own air defense system is needed instead of a Ministry of National Defense that references NATO
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Tekin Bingöl to discuss the draft law on amendments to the National Parks Law and certain other laws, as well as Decree-Law No. 375. During the meeting, İYİ Party's Poyraz criticized the government regarding an Iranian missile that fell within Turkey.
İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Uğur Poyraz stated, "Following the ballistic missile neutralized in our airspace yesterday, a Turkey that uses its own air defense system is necessary and valuable, rather than a Ministry of National Defense that references NATO.
Our airspace was protected by NATO; the time has come, and has even passed, to make a concrete and satisfactory decision regarding the S-400s, which led to our removal from the F-35 program, the effective seizure of the money we paid, and exposed our country to many problems both economically and in other respects," he said.
Recalling the Ministry of National Defense's statement yesterday regarding the ballistic munition detected as having been fired from Iran and heading toward Turkish airspace, Poyraz spoke as follows:
"Following the ballistic missile neutralized in our airspace yesterday, a Turkey that uses its own air defense system is necessary and valuable, rather than a Ministry of National Defense that references NATO. While grand statements have been made about the defense industry for years, we see that completely different weapons and methods are being used in the war taking place in our region. Our airspace was protected by NATO; the time has come, and has even passed, to make a concrete and satisfactory decision regarding the S-400s, which led to our removal from the F-35 program, the effective seizure of the money we paid, and exposed our country to many problems both economically and in other respects."
