İZBAN issues statement on tragic incident: Decision reached regarding the attacker who beat a security guard to death!

Mehmet D. (37), who was traveling on an İZBAN train, was warned by security guards for smoking.

The argument that broke out between Mehmet D. and the security guards following the warning turned into a fight after a short while.

The suspect beat security guards Seydihan Alsaç (44) and Hasan K. (37). Upon notification, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

The injured security guards were taken to Gaziemir Nevvar Salih İşgören State Hospital. Alsaç, whose condition worsened, could not be saved despite medical intervention at the Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, where he had been transferred.

Alsaç's body was sent to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy procedures.

Mehmet D., who was taken into custody by police teams, was arrested by the court.

In a statement issued by İZBAN regarding the incident, it was stated that the security guards intervened at Adnan Menderes Station against a passenger who was smoking on the train and preventing it from moving by holding the doors.

The statement noted that the security guards removed the suspect from the train at Cumaovası Station and that a scuffle ensued when he continued his aggressive behavior, and included the following remarks:

"During the scuffle, Alsaç, who had been working as a private security guard at İZBAN for 7 years, fell to the ground after sustaining a head injury. The individual then fell onto the chest of our security guard who was on the ground. Police teams called to the station intervened in the incident; while the individual was taken to the police station, our security guard Alsaç was taken to the hospital. Alsaç, who was taken under treatment due to the blow he received to his chest and underwent an angiography, unfortunately passed away due to a ruptured vessel. Our grief is immense."

The statement extended condolences to Seydihan Alsaç's family and loved ones.
