Jet tragedy carrying Libyan delegation: 3 errors in Ali Yerlikaya's plane crash statement

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced to the public that communication with a business jet departing from Ankara Esenboğa Airport for Libya had been lost as of 20:52. Stating that there were high-level individuals on board, Yerlikaya said, "There are five passengers on the plane, including the Libyan Chief of General Staff, General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad."

As a result of the search operations conducted after the crash, the wreckage of the downed plane was located by gendarmerie teams approximately 2 kilometers south of Kesikkavak village in the Haymana district. Initial findings reported that all members of the Libyan delegation on the plane had lost their lives.

Journalist Hilal Köylü stated that there were multiple errors in the information shared by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Köylü continued her criticism with the words, "A person can make one mistake, but how many mistakes are here?" and listed them as follows:

2- Why is the tail number wrong? (The correct one is 9H-DFS, but 9H-DFJ was written)

3- Why was the crash time written incorrectly? (20:44 in camera footage, 20:52 in the statement)"

YERLİKAYA'S OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya had included the following statements in his announcement on the evening the incident occurred:

"Communication with the Falcon 50 type business jet with tail number 9H-DFJ, which took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport to go to Tripoli at 20:10 this evening, was lost as of 20:52.

An emergency landing notification was received from the aircraft in question near Haymana; however, contact could not be re-established with the plane afterwards.

There are five passengers on the plane, including the Libyan Chief of General Staff, General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad.

The public will be informed of developments."

WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE AND AFTER THE CRASH?

Radar contact was lost as of 20:52 with the Falcon 50 type private jet, which had the tail number 9H-DFJ and took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport towards Tripoli, Libya, yesterday evening.

It was learned that the plane, which was carrying Libyan Chief of General Staff General Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad—who had come to Ankara upon the invitation of Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu—received an electrical fault warning during the flight and subsequently contacted Esenboğa Airport to request an emergency landing.

Following this development, flights at the airport were temporarily suspended. However, neither radio contact could be re-established with the aircraft in question, nor could radar contact be regained.
