Joint statement from Fidan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Bayramov

Foreign Minister Fidan met with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov. The two later held a joint press conference.

Speaking at the press conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Fidan stated that they had comprehensively discussed the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan and exchanged detailed views during the meeting.

"WE ARE WORKING TO TAKE RELATIONS FURTHER"

Evaluating his meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and providing information about the talks, Minister Fidan said, "During the period of unjust occupation that lasted for more than 30 years in Karabakh, Turkey stood unwaveringly by the side of brotherly Azerbaijan.

It will continue to stand by its side unwaveringly from now on as well. We are continuing our efforts without interruption to take Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, which have risen to the level of alliance with the Shusha Declaration signed by our President and President Aliyev on June 15, 2021, even further.

Today, in our meeting with Bayramov, we comprehensively discussed the relations between our brotherly countries and exchanged detailed views. We are pleased with the point our economic relations have reached. While advancing our cooperation in the field of energy, we are working on the basis of common interests and with a holistic strategy," he said.

"WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK CLOSELY FOR THE FRIENDSHIP AND BROTHERHOOD OF THE TWO COUNTRIES"

Pointing out that they reaffirmed their common desire for the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus as soon as possible during the meeting, Fidan said, "In this context, we evaluated the developments in the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

We shared our views with each other on what more can be done to strengthen the institutional work of the Organization of Turkic States. We also exchanged views on development issues related to regional connectivity and logistics routes.

We also sensitively evaluated Israel's attack on Gaza and the brutal massacre before the eyes of the whole world. I believe that we will continue to work closely for the two countries, for the friendship and brotherhood of the two countries in the coming period. The Turkey-Azerbaijan brotherhood will continue to contribute to regional peace and stability," he stated.

"IT WILL OPEN ITS DOORS TO ITS FIRST STUDENTS IN THE COMING ACADEMIC YEAR"

Expressing that he congratulated both Azerbaijan and Turkey on the completion of the establishment of the Turkey-Azerbaijan University, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said, "Accordingly, I can say that student admissions to the new university have been completed and the most knowledgeable and talented candidates in the country's technical field have applied and been accepted, and in the coming days, starting from September, the university will open its doors to its first students in the academic year. We believe that it is a university that combines the programs of Turkey's leading universities with the programs of Azerbaijan's leading universities under one roof. In this way, the cooperation of the two countries is a very serious new step in training the most prepared personnel for the labor market both in Azerbaijan and in a wider geography," he said.

"TURKEY IS BY AZERBAIJAN'S SIDE"

Stating that the 44-day Patriotic War was a unique indicator of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations to the whole world, Bayramov said, "In this period, which has historical importance for our country, we witnessed the full support and meaningful support of Azerbaijan from the president of the brotherly country to the ordinary citizen, and this political support, this moral support led to the rise of Azerbaijan's spirit. Turkey is by Azerbaijan's side in the process of reconstruction and bringing back to life the Karabakh region, which was liberated from occupation after 30 years," he said.
