Journalist Ahmet Sever passes away

It was learned that 65-year-old Ahmet Sever, who had no known health issues, suffered a heart attack.

WHO IS AHMET SEVER?

Ahmet Sever was born in Konya in 1960. He completed his education at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Brussels.

He began his career in international media. Between 1983 and 1998, he served as the Brussels correspondent and representative for the Milliyet newspaper. During this period, he also worked for BBC Cologne and Deutsche Welle radio, and was part of Mehmet Ali Birand's 32. Gün team.

Sever returned to Turkey in 1998. He worked in news director positions at Milliyet newspaper and CNN TÜRK. He continued his expertise on the European Union through programs he prepared for CNN TÜRK and TRT. During this period, he provided consultancy on EU relations.

He undertook significant roles in Abdullah Gül's political career. In January 2003, during Gül's premiership, he served as chief advisor for press and communications. Between 2004 and 2007, he held the presidency of the European Union Communication Group, reporting to Abdullah Gül.
