Journalist Gürcihan arrested following 'Berat Albayrak was beaten' claim: 'You have been ostracized from the family'
Journalist Fatma Sibel Gürcihan's social media post about Berat Albayrak led to her arrest. Gürcihan had made a claim regarding Berat Albayrak, stating, 'Albayrak was beaten in the garden of the villa in Kısıklı.'
Fatma Sibel Gürcihan was taken into custody following a post she made on social media regarding Berat Albayrak.
Gürcihan had stated, “They dragged you into the garden of the villa in Kısıklı and beat you, sir. Do you really need to be strangled like Damat İbrahim Pasha to accept that you have been ostracized from the family?”
Journalist Dinçer Gökçe announced the news of the detention on his social media account, saying, “Former journalist Fatma Sibel Gürcihan was taken into custody this evening around 19:00.
The reason was a tweet Gürcihan posted yesterday regarding Berat Albayrak.
Gürcihan, whose statement was taken at the Security Branch, will be referred to the courthouse tomorrow.
Gürcihan and her husband (Behiç) were also defendants in the Ergenekon case.”
ARREST WARRANT ISSUED
Gürcihan was referred to the courthouse after the completion of her procedures at the Security Branch Directorate. Following the prosecutor's office procedures, an arrest warrant was issued for Gürcihan, who was brought before the court.
The post that led to Gürcihan's detention was as follows:
"They dragged you into the garden of the villa in Kısıklı and beat you, sir. Even your bodyguard, who was trying to do his job, got his share of the kicks and punches.
What kind of 'cause' is this, I ask?
Do you really need to be strangled like Damat İbrahim Pasha to accept that you have been ostracized from the family?"
