WHAT HAPPENED?

Journalist Hüseyin Günay had become a topic of discussion due to remarks he made in the White House garden while AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

Günay, who was serving as NTV's Washington D.C. Representative, was caught on an Associated Press (AP) camera while speaking with someone, and the footage, which spread on social media, received a great deal of engagement in a short time.

In the footage, Günay was saying that the meeting was not going well for Turkey and was using critical language. Günay also commented, "There is a fight inside between Bilal (Erdoğan), Hakan Fidan, and the son-in-law (Selçuk Bayraktar)."

Following the spread of this video on social media, it was alleged that NTV would fire Günay to avoid falling out with the government, and the NTV management decided to terminate Hüseyin Günay's employment in line with these expectations.
