Journalist İsmail Saymaz reacts to Ogün Samast's release

Ogün Samast, who had been in prison for 16 years and 10 months, had completed his sentence a year ago under conditional release due to good behavior. A release decision was issued for Samast, who had been kept under observation by the prison administration.

While this decision drew significant backlash, journalist İsmail Saymaz also reacted to the development. Reminding the public of the attacks on journalists and their imprisonment in the country, Saymaz expressed his reaction to Samast's release with the following words:

"Can Atalay and the Gezi Park detainees, along with journalist Barış Pehlivan, are inside, while journalist Hrant Dink’s murderer Ogün Samast is outside..."
