Journalist Murat Ağırel shares the full video of Altaylı: 'Taken out of context'

An ex officio investigation has been launched against Fatih Altaylı on charges of 'threatening the President'.

Altaylı had been targeted over the statements he used on his self-titled YouTube channel, quoted below:

"Look at the history of this nation, and I am not even talking about its recent history, look at its distant history... This is a nation that has strangled its sultans. It is a nation that has booed its sultan when it was not pleased, when it did not want him. It is not a small number of Ottoman sultans who were killed, who fell victim to assassination... Let's not call it assassination, but those who fell victim to conspiracies, or were strangled, or were made to look like they committed suicide..."

SUPPORT FOR HIS COLLEAGUE FROM MURAT AĞIREL

Journalist Murat Ağırel also made a post on his social media account and shared the full version of the video in which Fatih Altaylı used the aforementioned expressions.

Ağırel pointed out that a specific part of the video was cut and circulated, and that an attempt was made to create a perception based on this.

Ağırel used the following expressions:

"This is the full version of the video that led to Fatih Altaylı's detention and is alleged to have 'threatened the President'.

The video circulated to the public, however, has been taken out of context, cut, and edited.

It is clearly seen that Altaylı's speech is a general assessment based on historical examples from the Ottoman period."
