Journalist Timur Soykan's outcry over access bans: We are fighting against darkness, the judge takes a bribe and makes the news disappear

Describing the process that began with the censorship of his reports on illegal betting baron Veysel Şahin, Soykan stated that even the reports they published about the news being blocked were themselves blocked multiple times.

Drawing attention to the censorship mechanism operated through criminal judgeships of peace, Soykan expressed the cycle of censorship and the decay in the judiciary with the following words:

"I looked and saw that my report on illegal betting baron Veysel Şahin had also been blocked. Then I said: 'Ah, so this is how it's blocked.'

We reported that an access ban had been placed on the news, and that report of ours was also hit with an access ban.

This was repeated 7-8 times. We are working so that the country can emerge from these dark times, a criminal judge takes a bribe, and just like that, our news flies away, it's gone. It was that simple."

Emphasizing that reports on corruption and organized crime that serve the public interest are being systematically erased through criminal judgeship decisions, Soykan expressed his reaction to the obstruction of journalistic activities through bribery and judicial pressure with harsh language.
