Zafer Arapkirli has been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for "publicly disseminating misleading information."
BirGün columnist and host of the Medyaterapi program on BirGün TV, Zafer Arapkirli, appeared in court in the case where he was tried on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" and "publicly disseminating misleading information."

WHAT HAPPENED?
In a social media post, Arapkirli had made assessments regarding the raiding of Alevi villages and massacres in certain regions during the period of internal conflict that began following the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria.
The first hearing, scheduled for March 27, was postponed to April 14 on the grounds that the judge was on leave. Arapkirli, his lawyer, and those who wanted to attend the hearing in support received the news from the bailiff in front of the courtroom.
