Judge involved in threats and blackmail dismissed

It has been reported that judge Gül A., who was allegedly involved in threats and blackmail incidents while serving at the Adana Courthouse, has been suspended. It was stated that the judge was also dismissed due to a separate case.

In a written statement issued by the Ministry of Justice, it was stated: "Judge Gül A., whose name was linked to threats and blackmail incidents while serving at the Adana Courthouse, was suspended due to these actions, which she carried out by using the influence and reputation of her profession, and she has been dismissed due to another case."

According to the allegations, the female judge accepted a bribe of 500 million liras to release a fuel smuggler. She allegedly had the man she was in a relationship with threatened with death and used narcotics held in judicial custody.

Following these allegations, the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) launched an investigation into the judge.

According to a report by Sabah newspaper, the judge was in a relationship with the manager of the residential complex where she lived. Her partner wanted to break up with the judge, but after being threatened with death by individuals who came to his workplace, he filed a criminal complaint against her.

In the investigation conducted into the judge, for whom the HSK 1st Chamber granted permission for an inquiry, it was determined that she had received 500 million liras from a person being tried for fuel smuggling while she was serving in Edirne in exchange for an acquittal decision.

It was determined that judge Gül A. obtained narcotic pills without a prescription from a private hospital and that, during the pandemic, she and a deputy chief public prosecutor, with whom she was drinking alcohol, used narcotics removed from judicial custody to hold parties.
