Justice Minister Gürlek speaks on investigations shaking the national agenda: We can now call it murder

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek answered questions from Başak Şengül and Buket Aydın on tv100.

Gürlek made assessments on agenda items ranging from the implementation process of the Terror-Free Turkey Law passed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to the Alihan Kuriş and Alparslan Kuytul investigations, and from the AHBAP file to betting and match-fixing investigations in football.

Third wave in the Kuriş investigation

Gürlek stated that the investigations into the Alihan Kuriş and Alparslan Kuytul files are ongoing, noting that new whistleblower testimonies have been received and financial movements are under scrutiny.

Announcing that the third wave of the Kuriş investigation has been carried out, Gürlek reported that trustees have been appointed to 15 companies and a trustee decision has been made for 4 associations. Emphasizing that the investigation is not directed at a religious structure, Gürlek stated that allegations of a criminal organization are being investigated.

Gürlek stated that the investigation could deepen over allegations of money laundering, establishing and managing an organization, and crimes against the state, adding, "New whistleblower testimonies are also coming in."

Stating that there are findings regarding the transfer of money abroad, Gürlek noted that there are findings that money was transferred by hand through tourism companies and that the organization wanted to move its center to Cologne.

"They have built a luxurious life for themselves under the guise of religion"

Gürlek stated that the investigation is focused on the financial structure and raised the allegation that the religious feelings of citizens were exploited.

Touching upon the examinations regarding the assets of Kuriş and his family, Gürlek said that there are approximately 185 immovable properties and that MASAK reports are important in the investigations. He stated that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will also request reports regarding new companies.

Stating that a separate investigation is being conducted into the death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, Gürlek said that an exhumation process was carried out and that it is being investigated whether the death was natural or if there was external interference.

Attention-grabbing computer detail in the Kuytul investigation

Speaking about the Alparslan Kuytul investigation, Gürlek announced that it was determined that the main computers were dismantled before the search warrant.

Arguing that this shows the organization has a serious intelligence network, Gürlek said that there are also whistleblower testimonies from within the investigation. He also stated that an examination is being conducted regarding money movements through the organization's accounting records.

İmamoğlu case: "Courts are not political arenas"

Gürlek also made assessments regarding the case in which Ekrem İmamoğlu is being tried.

Stating that courts are not political arenas, Gürlek claimed that some names heard in the hearings gave statements regarding how money was laundered in the system established by İmamoğlu.

Stating that the statements of those who benefited from effective remorse at the prosecution stage were repeated in court, Gürlek said that operations were not carried out with a single witness or whistleblower statement, and that the statements were compared with HTS and MASAK records.

New wave signal in the AHBAP investigation

Providing information about the AHBAP investigation, Gürlek said that three waves of operations have been carried out in the file and 37 people are under arrest.

Stating that the examination regarding the use of money collected during the earthquake period is ongoing, Gürlek reported that 245 million dollars were collected and that the prosecution has formed an expert committee to determine for what purposes this money was spent.

Gürlek stated that Haluk Levent's immovable property transfers and his movements on illegal and legal betting sites are also being examined within the scope of the investigation, giving the message that the file could deepen.

Yazıcıoğlu file: "There are very strong suspicions"

One of the most striking topics in Gürlek's statements was his assessment regarding the death of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu.

Stating that there are findings in the file regarding the organization of FETÖ, Gürlek said that a meeting was held involving the pilot, the pilot's wife, and the pilot, and that Adil Öksüz also attended this meeting. Stating that Öksüz went abroad one day before the incident, Gürlek said, "We can now call it murder. There are very strong suspicions."

Gürlek stated that the investigation will deepen further, saying that they will go to the end "no matter where it leads," and expressed that the incident appears to be an act carried out by FETÖ.

New judicial package coming in October

Justice Minister Gürlek also made statements regarding the new judicial package.

Stating that a new regulation will be made regarding indefinite alimony, Gürlek said that a system is being worked on where the judge can limit alimony according to the situation and conditions. Stating that the regulation will be enacted in October, Gürlek expressed that a regulation will be made so that women will not be victimized.

Gürlek also announced that the regulation requiring identification for social media access will also come in October.
