Justice Minister Tunç denies reports of torture of detainees: 'These are slanders devoid of reason'

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç has denied reports that those arrested during the protests following the detention of IMM President İmamoğlu were subjected to torture and ill-treatment.

Minister Tunç stated, "Claims that family visits, healthcare, hygiene, housing, and other fundamental rights are being obstructed for some of the arrested individuals do not reflect the truth."

Minister Tunç used the following expressions in his statement:

"...Claims that family visits, healthcare, hygiene, housing, and other fundamental rights are being obstructed for some of the individuals arrested within the scope of the investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office do not reflect the truth. These rights are under legal protection and are being meticulously implemented. Any situation to the contrary is absolutely out of the question...

...Allegations that torture and ill-treatment are taking place are untrue; they are slanders devoid of conscience and reason. These baseless claims are part of a dark propaganda aimed at discrediting our state, our justice system, and our penal institutions..."
