Justice Minister Tunç: Judicial investigation launched into building collapse in Gebze
As efforts continue to locate the mother and father trapped under the rubble of the building that collapsed in Gebze, a statement has come from Justice Minister Tunç. Minister Tunç announced that a judicial investigation has been launched regarding the collapsed building.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the Public Prosecutor's Office has appointed an expert committee, consisting of civil engineers, a geophysicist, and an architect, regarding the building that collapsed in Gebze, Kocaeli.
In a post on his social media account, Minister Tunç stated, "The judicial investigation launched by the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the building collapse that occurred in the Gebze district of Kocaeli is continuing in a multi-faceted manner. I pray for God's mercy upon our two children who lost their lives in this tragic incident that has deeply saddened us all, and I wish a speedy recovery to our child who was rescued with injuries. I hope that the mother and father who are under the rubble will also be rescued safe and sound."
Announcing that an expert committee has been appointed regarding the incident, Minister Tunç said, "All institutions of our state have been continuing their work with great effort and dedication since the very first moment.
In order to clarify all aspects of the incident, an expert committee consisting of civil engineers, a geophysicist, and an architect has been appointed by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The expert committee will immediately begin its necessary examinations at the scene once the rescue operations are completed. In line with the findings obtained within the scope of the investigation and the expert examinations, the judicial process will be meticulously carried out to determine the causes of the incident and those responsible," he said.
