Justice Minister Tunç's statement on e-signatures: 'Let no one have any doubts'

Minister Tunç made the following statements in a post on his social media account:

A public lawsuit was filed on May 21, 2025, against suspects identified as having accessed the information systems of certain public institutions and performed transactions using fake electronic signatures, within the scope of investigations initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 13, 2024.

The judicial investigation, which was launched immediately following the report of the crime, has been conducted with great diligence and in all its aspects for approximately 1 year; electronic material examination reports, HTS records, base station signal data, technical analyses regarding LOG records, IP and port information, law enforcement investigation reports, and other evidence were evaluated in detail to identify the suspects.

In this context, irregular transactions were uncovered, revealing that electronic signatures belonging to some public officials were produced fraudulently and used to gain unauthorized access to public systems to create fake records.

During this process, effective information sharing was carried out with the relevant public institutions in order to prevent the commission of crimes and to avoid potential damages.

In line with the evidence obtained during the investigation process, which was conducted confidentially, arrest and detention operations were carried out at different times,

Judicial proceedings were initiated against 220 people,

A public lawsuit was filed against 199 suspects.

Arrest warrants were issued for 37 of them,

Judicial control measures were applied to 150 people.

All necessary steps are being taken without delay in accordance with the principle of the rule of law against any action that constitutes a crime, disrupts public order, or aims to damage the reputation of state institutions.

During this process, statements aimed at disinformation intended to mislead the public regarding ongoing investigations and prosecutions should not be given credence.
