Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç makes statement on 'right to hope' for Öcalan
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar claimed that following MHP leader Bahçeli's call for the 'right to hope' for terrorist leader Öcalan, a negotiation process was conducted and concluded positively. Speaking on the matter, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç said, "It would not be appropriate for such assessments to be asked of us and for us to make a statement here."
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for the 'right to hope' for Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, and his continued insistence on this call, remain on the agenda.
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar claimed that after Bahçeli's call, a negotiation process was conducted regarding terrorist leader Öcalan's potential benefit from the 'right to hope' and that the process had yielded positive results.
A statement on the matter came from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç.
Responding to questions from members of the press following the Mediation Week symposium organized by the Turkey Mediators and Mediation Centers Platform, Tunç stated, "It is not appropriate for such assessments to be asked of us and for us to make a statement here."
Minister Tunç spoke as follows:
"We will continue our determination in the fight against terrorism without compromise. Our President and our other political leaders are also making important statements in this sense regarding Turkey's liberation from terrorism. We will continue our struggle until every form of terrorism is erased from this country.
It is not appropriate for such assessments to be asked of us and for us to make a statement here. Our legislation is already clear regarding how individuals and convicts in prisons will meet with their relatives. Within this framework, meetings with their relatives are already taking place. We must erase and cast out from this country the PKK terrorist organization, which has been disturbing our country for 40 years and aims to disrupt the unity, solidarity, and peace of our nation.
The people of this country are brothers. Without making any distinction between Turks, Kurds, Laz, or Circassians, we must strengthen our unity and solidarity, and by strengthening our internal front, we must make Turkey stronger. We will continue our work in this direction without slowing down."
