First statement from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç regarding the leadership change at the Constitutional Court!
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, who published a congratulatory message for the new Constitutional Court (AYM) President Kadir Özkaya, also thanked the former president Zühtü Arslan.
Constitutional Court (AYM) President Zühtü Arslan's term expired on April 20, and Kadir Özkaya was elected as the new AYM President in the election held today.
In the election, where AYM Deputy President Kadir Özkaya and member Yusuf Şevki Hakyemez competed, Özkaya received 9 votes out of 15 members. Hakyemez received 6 votes. Özkaya, who was elected as the AYM President, will serve for 4 years.
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated regarding the change in leadership: "I congratulate Mr. Kadir Özkaya, who has been elected as the President of the Constitutional Court, and wish him success in this important role. May it be beneficial for our country and our Constitutional Court. I would like to thank Mr. Zühtü Arslan, whose term has expired, for his services to date."
