Kılıçdaroğlu commemorates the 'spirit of the congress': Greetings to those who do not compromise on determination and courage

Sharing a post on his social media account on the anniversary of September 4, 1919, when the Sivas Congress began, Kılıçdaroğlu stated, "Greetings to those who remain loyal to the spirit of struggle and do not compromise on determination and courage."

The cancellation of the 2023 CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress and the removal of the administration, including Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, with Gürsel Tekin and four other party members appointed as a 'temporary committee' in their place, has been one of the main topics on the agenda since September 2. The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance, which made the decision, also ruled for the suspension of the entire ongoing congress process.

Following the decision, the CHP referred Gürsel Tekin and then the other four party members to the disciplinary board with a request for their permanent expulsion. Meanwhile, the removal of the Istanbul administration has also brought the case regarding the cancellation of the CHP general assembly, which will be heard on September 15, back to the agenda.

Kılıçdaroğlu wrote the following on X on the anniversary of September 4, 1919, when the Sivas Congress began:

“On the anniversary of the Sivas Congress, where it was declared to the whole world that the provisions of ‘The homeland is an indivisible whole within its national borders and cannot be partitioned. Mandate and protection are unacceptable’ would not allow passage to occupying and colonial states, with the faith, determination, and unwavering spirit that accepts the Sacred Homeland as the sanctuary of our nation, and where this belief is accepted as the first general assembly of the Republican People's Party, I commemorate our Founding Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and the spirit of the congress with respect and gratitude.

Greetings to those who remain loyal to the spirit of struggle and do not compromise on determination and courage.”
