Kılıçdaroğlu's special statement on the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation: A jab at the AKP government

On the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation, which ensured the freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people, many political figures shared posts regarding the significance of the day.

While current CHP Chairman Özgür Özel personally attended the ceremony held in Cyprus for this special day, former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu also shared a post regarding the occasion.

Paying his respects to the political leaders of the era who contributed to the peace operation, Bülent Ecevit and Necmettin Erbakan, Kılıçdaroğlu also commemorated the heroic martyrs with mercy and gratitude.

In his post dedicated to this day, Kılıçdaroğlu did not neglect to make references to the problems experienced during the Erdoğan government era without naming them directly.

Here is that post by Kılıçdaroğlu:

"On the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, which was a major blow to the encirclement plans of imperialists against our region and our country, I commemorate the late Ecevit, the late Erbakan, and our heroic martyrs, who demonstrated the will to bring peace to the island, with mercy and gratitude.

I offer my gratitude to our veterans.

This is not like staying silent while sacks were placed over the heads of our soldiers,

Or like fleeing after lowering our flag from our territory in Syria.

This is not at all like boarding a British ship and abandoning and surrendering the homeland when the enemy is at the door.

They said 'do not plant poppies,' and he planted them.

They said 'do not enter Cyprus,' and he entered. They imposed an embargo, and he resisted.

Long live the path of those who wrote nationalism on the Five Finger Mountains of Cyprus and the waves of the Aegean Sea…

Long live the path of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk…"
