Kızılay, which sold tents during the earthquake, showers TÜGVA with refreshments
The summer school program of the pro-government TÜGVA was held at the Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium. During the event, where tight security measures were notable, it was observed that the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay), which caused a major scandal by selling tents during the earthquake, provided free refreshments to the attendees.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's son, Bilal Erdoğan, who serves on the high advisory board of the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA), held the final of their summer school program at the Beşiktaş TÜPRAŞ Stadium in Istanbul. President Erdoğan also attended the event, which began yesterday at 5:00 PM.
As reported by Cumhuriyet, intense security measures were taken in the area before and during the event. Around the stadium, some street vendors offered Turkish flags for sale alongside green flags with three crescents and banners featuring Göktürk symbols. Claims were shared among participants that “those carrying green flags with three crescents were provided easier access at the entrances.”
The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay), which sold tents during the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, distributed free snacks and drinks to those attending the TÜGVA event. The vehicle staffed by Kızılay volunteers bore the sign “Müge Anlı and Friends Mobile Soup Kitchen.” The Alpedo brand, owned by Sami Kervancıoğlu and Mustafa Pekel—who made headlines during the same earthquakes when 35 people lost their lives due to illegal renovations in their patisseries—also distributed free ice cream at the event. The Başakşehir Municipality provided tea and various refreshments. Free water was also distributed in the vicinity throughout the event.
In addition to those wearing TÜGVA vests, the presence of individuals in civilian clothing and foreign nationals around the stadium was also notable. It was observed that a large portion of the trash generated by participants after the refreshments was thrown on the ground.
