Koç Holding to purchase Sultan Abdulhamid's mansion

Koç Holding is preparing to take a significant step to add a new project to its cultural investment portfolio. Having previously acquired the Abdülmecid Efendi Mansion in Istanbul, Koç Holding has now begun negotiations to purchase the Alatini Mansion, where Sultan Abdulhamid II, the 34th sultan of the Ottoman Empire, lived in exile following the 31 March Incident.

NEW PROJECT ANNOUNCED

It is stated that if the mansion, which is currently used as the Thessaloniki Regional Government building, is purchased by Koç Holding, it will be utilized as the Turkish-Greek Relations Institute. In line with this plan, the structure, which holds historical significance, will be transformed into a cultural center to strengthen relations between the two countries.

SENT INTO EXILE

Sultan Abdulhamid II was deposed following the 31 March Incident and was sent into exile with his family to the Alatini Mansion in Thessaloniki in 1909.
