Statement from Kocaeli City Hospital to 12punto on 'monkeypox': 'There is no such case at the hospital'
Following the quarantine of a Senegalese woman in Sakarya on suspicion of the monkeypox virus due to a skin condition, an individual in Kocaeli also presented at the city hospital. It was alleged that the person, who suspected symptoms of the monkeypox virus, had been placed in quarantine. In a statement made by Kocaeli City Hospital, it was stated, "There is no such case in our hospital."
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a public health emergency due to the monkeypox (mpox) virus spreading in Africa.
The virus, which continues to spread in Africa, has also been detected in Sweden and Pakistan.
While the Ministry of Health has announced that the monkeypox virus has not been detected in Turkey, a 34-year-old Senegalese woman who presented to the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital due to a skin condition had been placed in quarantine as a precaution on suspicion of the monkeypox virus.
In a statement regarding the matter, the Sakarya Provincial Health Directorate noted, "The patient has been evaluated by Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialists, and it has been understood that the symptoms mentioned in the allegations are not consistent with the disease known as M-pox (mpox)."
AN INDIVIDUAL PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PRECAUTION IN KOCAELI
According to a report in the Kocaeli Gazetesi, it was alleged that a patient who came to Kocaeli City Hospital today was placed in quarantine as a precaution.
It has not yet been diagnosed whether the male Turkish citizen, who is in his 50s, has contracted the outbreak. It was claimed that the patient, who also showed symptoms of butterfly disease, was placed in quarantine as a precaution.
STATEMENT FROM KOCAELI CITY HOSPITAL: THERE IS NO SUCH CASE IN OUR HOSPITAL
Following the monkeypox allegation in Kocaeli, 12punto called the Kocaeli Provincial Health Directorate and Kocaeli City Hospital.
No response could be obtained from the Kocaeli Provincial Health Directorate.
In a statement made to 12punto by Kocaeli City Hospital, it was said, "There is no such case in our hospital. No such information has been received. In the event that information is received, the Ministry of Health will make an announcement."
