Kremlin announces: Turkey has applied for full membership in BRICS+

Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov stated that Turkey has applied for membership in BRICS+, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, and that this request will be evaluated by the BRICS+ countries.

According to a report by Sputnik, while speaking to reporters at the 9th Eastern Economic Forum, Ushakov confirmed that Turkey had applied for full membership, saying, "Turkey has submitted its application for full membership. We will evaluate it."

The bloc, initially founded by Brazil, Russia, India, and China and referred to as BRIC, later took the name BRICS with the inclusion of South Africa.

Most recently, the membership applications of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates to BRICS were accepted. The name of the bloc has thus begun to be referred to as BRICS+.

BRICS+ countries are generally seen as an economically based bloc that Eastern countries are trying to establish among themselves against the financial hegemony of Western countries.
