Lawyer Cem Duman and Selahattin Yılmaz arrested
Selahattin Yılmaz, who is alleged to be the leader of an organization, and 10 others, including lawyer Cem Duman, have been arrested.
In an operation conducted across 5 provinces centered in Istanbul, 10 people, including Selahattin Yılmaz—who was detained on allegations of "membership in an armed criminal organization" and "preparing an assassination" against Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who benefited from effective remorse in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation—and lawyer Cem Duman, were arrested on charges of "threats," "forming an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," and "obtaining benefits for an unauthorized job."
14 people, including Selahattin Yılmaz, known for his visit to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli alongside Alaattin Çakıcı, one of the prominent figures of the organized crime world, had been detained on charges of "membership in an armed criminal organization."
It was alleged that Fatih Keleş, the President of the İBB Sports Club, who is currently imprisoned as part of the İBB investigation, gave instructions to Selahattin Yılmaz to "silence Aziz İhsan Aktaş" during a meeting with his lawyer in prison.
10 people, including Selahattin Yılmaz and lawyer Cem Duman—who became a topic of discussion with his social media post featuring a gold-leaf room and photos of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the background—were referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest, while judicial control was requested for 5 others.
The court decided to arrest 10 people, including Yılmaz and Duman.
