Lawyer Hüseyin Ersöz discloses Mahir Polat's health status

Hüseyin Ersöz, the lawyer for Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was arrested and sent to prison as part of an ongoing investigation, has made a statement regarding the health status of IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who is being held in custody. 

"Mahir Polat was taken out of prison on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to Silivri State Hospital due to complaints of severe chest pain," Ersöz stated, sharing the following on his social media account: 

"I met with Şişli Mayor Emrah Şahan and IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat at the Marmara Closed Penal Institution. Mahir Polat has serious cardiological conditions. He was arrested while preparing for a 4th operation following angiograms performed in 2021, 2022, and 2023. In these previous surgeries, 6 stents were placed in Mahir Polat. Polat, who has been a hypertension patient since the age of 21, was given 2 sublingual pills yesterday after his blood pressure rose to 16-10, but his blood pressure only returned to normal after 4 hours. Mahir Polat was taken out of prison on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to Silivri State Hospital due to complaints of severe chest pain. He is reportedly scheduled to be transferred to the Cardiology department of Çam Sakura City Hospital in the coming days. Mahir Polat was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and had his thyroid removed in a surgery. He also suffers from sleep apnea. Emrah Şahan and Mahir Polat were arrested on March 23 based on the unfounded allegations of a secret witness."
