Lawyer Mücahit Birinci released
Lawyer Mücahit Birinci has been released under judicial control measures by the judgeship to which he was referred following his testimony at the prosecutor's office, as part of an investigation into his meeting with a suspect arrested in a corruption probe targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB).
The investigation into corruption allegations concerning the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his post as Mayor and arrested, continues.
In this context, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had obtained authorization from the Ministry of Justice to investigate allegations that lawyer Mücahit Birinci had held a meeting in prison with a detained suspect.
Following the Ministry of Justice's granting of investigation authorization to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the aforementioned allegations, Birinci arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to provide his statement to the prosecutor as a 'suspect'. After his statement, Birinci was referred to the Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for judicial control in the form of a 'travel ban' and 'signature' requirements.
