Lawyer revealed in court: It turns out the earthquake-culprit contractor has been building public buildings!
It has emerged that Selahattin Yüksel, a contractor whose building in Hatay collapsed and became a grave for 14 people, has been winning tenders for the construction of public buildings after the earthquake.
As trials regarding the buildings destroyed in the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş continue, a striking fact has come to light.
Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz wrote that Selahattin Yüksel, the contractor of the Fuat Seçkin apartment building in Hatay where 14 people lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake, has been constructing the Antakya Automotive and Leather Workers' sites, the heavily damaged Hatay Chamber of Commerce, and other public buildings.
He reported that in the trial against Yüksel, his lawyer Fevzi Randa revealed in his defense that Yüksel has continued his contracting business after the earthquake and has even been building public structures;
"Our client is currently continuing work on the construction of public buildings, the Antakya Automotive Site and Leather Workers' Site, and the commissioning of the Hatay Chamber of Commerce."
