Lawyers detained on May 1st released
Many lawyers who were detained on May 1st have been released following their statements.
Speaking to 12punto, Attorney Aydın Başalmaz from the Voice of Lawyers Initiative (ASİ) had stated that the number of detentions in Istanbul had reached 576 people.
Başalmaz had said that while it was stated that statement procedures would be carried out at the Vatan Police Headquarters and Gayrettepe Police Headquarters, the lawyers were kept waiting in front of the police department.
Attorney Başalmaz expressed his reaction by saying, "Even though the lawyer waiting room is empty, we cannot enter," and shortly after this statement, he announced that the lawyers were taken inside to have their statements taken.
