Legal expert Hüseyin Özbek: 'The discourse of a terror-free Turkey is a project to seize the title deed of the Republic'

Legal expert Hüseyin Özbek argued that the government is carrying out a plan targeting the founding foundations of the Republic with its new opening process titled "Terror-free Turkey." According to Özbek, the process aims to weaken Turkey's unitary structure and "distribute the country's title deed among ethnicities."

Legal expert Hüseyin Özbek: 'The discourse of a terror-free Turkey is a project to seize the title deed of the Republic'

Legal expert Hüseyin Özbek reacted sharply to the opening process that the government has recently brought to the agenda under the title of "Terror-free Turkey." Reminding that the Republic, founded on October 29, 1923, is based on a nation-state and a unitary structure, Özbek stated, "On that day, the Turkish Nation chose a regime based on unity and sovereignty in these lands. Today, these foundations are being targeted."

Drawing attention to the approach of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, who claimed that "the state/regime architecture of October 29, 1923, is wrong, and Turkey's title deed should be distributed among ethnicities," Özbek said, "This thought is the theoretical infrastructure for seizing the Republic's title deed. Now, this plan is being presented to the public with the makeup of a 'terror-free Turkey'."

Emphasizing that redefining Turkey's title deed—that is, its sovereign rights—on an ethnic basis is incompatible with the philosophy of the Republic, Özbek assessed that "such openings are not peace, but a process of dissolution directed at the founding principles of the state."

Claiming that the government is carrying out a new political engineering project through the discourse of "fighting terrorism," Özbek warned, "In the 102nd year of the Republic, the greatest threat to the spirit of October 29 is these planned dissolution moves."
