Lemon export ban lasted only one day

The Ministry of Trade's decision to halt lemon exports lasted only one day. In a statement on his social media account, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that the export ban on lemons had been lifted following an evaluation meeting held with representatives of producer provinces, as well as officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Trade.

In a statement on April 7, the Ministry had reported that exports were temporarily suspended on the grounds that adverse weather conditions had caused a contraction in lemon supply and that this situation could trigger price increases in the domestic market. The decision had come into effect on the morning of April 8. However, it was emphasized that a re-evaluation was necessary following the reactions the measure caused among the public and producer circles.

In the statement made after the meeting, it was noted that the lemon supply remains at a level sufficient to meet the needs of the domestic market and that the continuation of exports is important for both the producers and the national economy. Thus, the restriction on lemon exports was completely lifted after only one day of implementation.
